Grafton Democrats Elect Delegates to Convention

February 13, 2010

Registered Democrats in Grafton held a caucus today to elect delegates to the 2010 Massachusetts Democratic Convention. The caucus was well-attended, and included a visit from Governor Deval L. Patrick and State Senator Michael O. Moore.

Elected as delegates were Jon Bartelson, Tina Doucet, Kim Edgren, Juan Flores, Ken Grew, Elias Hanna, Carolyn Jakubiak and Lisa Kelley.  Elected as alternates were Michelle Drum, Lee-Marie Fadavi and Marsha Platt.  Chet Jakubiak, Chair of the Grafton Democratic Town Committee, will serve as an ex officio delegate.  Also serving as an ex officio delegate is Diane Saxe, Democratic State Committee Woman.

The Convention will be held on Friday, June 4th and Saturday, June 5th at the DCU Center in Worcester. Democrats from across the state will gather to vote on candidates for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of the Commonwealth, Attorney General, Treasurer and Auditor.  The number of contested seats has generated a lot of interest.  To appear on the September ballot, candidates must receive at least 15% of the delegates’ vote.  In each race the candidate receiving a majority vote will be the endorsed candidate of the Democratic Party.
